Chapter editing...

OK, I have re-authored with ******** [ahem] and cut out the first few chaptors. I tried to simply paste those VOB files into the origional VIDEO_TS folder...

Needless to say it works, but the chapters are all screwed up. I fixed/confirmed chapter points with CHAPTEREDIT and triedusing those VOB files... This didn't help.

So, I suppose the cells and chapters are also stored in the IFO file??? and these are overiding the actual VOB file?

Is there some way to imposrt the Chapter points from the VOB file into the IFO file???

There is also a menu VOB in the same PGC, this is what's keeping me from trying something else.

....again, although I get errors in PGCEDIT and WHEN I BURN, all plays perfect except those chapters [not the SCENE SELECTION as I know how to edit that] but the actual chapters aren't working like I want??????

any tips???

Why paste them into the original VIDEO_TS folder. Ahem makes a whole new VIDEO_TS folder for you perfectly.

Anyway, if you want to make new chapter points - demux with PgcDemux, Remux with muxman using a celltimes.txt file (in frames)

thanks, will try suggested route... very new to messing with DVDs.

Basically I wanted to keep all menus the same and not have to rebuild anything [always looking for shortcuts], and especially since there was a menu in the same PGC i was scared I would ruin something. But as long as I keep back-ups I should quit being so freaked out.

Basically what I'm doing is splitting a DVD DL into 2 DVD discs with all features kept at full quality and no broken links and with a custom insert disc 2 image. Thought I had it and then noticed the chapters were off.

yeah, I'm still not seeing this working, as I said there is a menu in the mix.

VTS_03_1-3 are the part of movie I re-authoured in AHEM

But when I copy into the old folder with menus and try the PGCDEMUX in there it says "Error opening input VOB: E:\copy\VTS_03_2118235989.VOB"
a file that doesn't even exist.

and so I get no file.

How do I get just the cell times....... aha!!!!
perhaps if I adjust chapers in the origional un-authored folder and copy that IFO over.......... I'll try that.

So, a question.... does it even matter what the chapters are set to in the VOB??? seems it only matters what is in the IFO as far as navigation chapters on the final DVD.

unfortunately CHAPTEREDIT doesn't allow multiple titles, so that idea not as easy as though ;0/

I'm looking at Blutech's http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides...dvd9/index.php guide and wonder does VOBBLANKER then do what I want... does it simply lower file size on individual chapters [aka. BLANK? or almost like replacing with a still in AHEM but for ea. chapter?] and keep all menus... then all I have to do is edit the menus in PGCEDIT???

VobBlanker will split the disc into 2 very effectively and keep both menus. See the guide on that site. You won't even need to edit the menus (well, you can to hide the buttons of the video on the other disc, if you like, but if you don't, it will simply play the blanked video).

whoops, I think I figured

NOPE!
it won't access play, even after tring to copy origional IFO's into the VOBBLANKED folder.

Is there some VOBBLANK option I missed, I've told it to keep Menus.

OK, looks like I just had to copy that annoying VOB MENU that was just ahead of the main title as well as copy the first 2 PGCs from the origional folder.

now all so far seems to work.

DAMNED VobBlanker made that much easier.

The idea in a split is to process everything (all VTSs and both menus and titles) and blank what you need to blank. That way, you have a complete DVD project in your output folder.
