That sort of answers the question as to whether the file is valid or not. To be sure, open the file in Virtualdub (no need to reindex it) and check the file information.

          Cool it's working

Yes yes yes the movie has opened with Virtualdub. maybe the Divx player 2.0 is not ok for my cp. Anyway I will read on in the forum for answers about this. Maybe you can tell me wich player is best for an amd duron 700mgh with voodoo agp 16 bit card.

          Thanks again

Now I must also read on about the next step. Get the movie, transforme it, rip watch and hope everything works out well

          Thanks again

Windows Media Player 6.4 is a good one and I personally use it (in addition to PowerDivX). By the way, I thought you were only concerned with downloading a movie? How did the "Get the movie, transforme it, rip watch ..." come into the equation?

              next step

Well i'm downloading a movie now, what I meen by get is hoping to have the hole document soon , (I'ts taking foreever at .47 kb on a cable connection) so I can proceed to the next step. I wan't to make a svcd. I have checked out my home dvd and it is compatible. So I wan't to give it a try.

I have windows mdeia player 7.1.o but could not open the file while it was downloading. So thats why i tried using DivFix I read somewhere that is we copie the file we can see it. Thanks to virtual dub i can see the image no sound though. So I will puisuit whith the transfer. I guess it will take about a week.

I have also dowloaded windows 8. ? hoping to have all the codecs. All this is new to me. It's a lot to learn all at once.

The point is I want to try and see if this really works and if it does I will indeed have fun watching movies.

              thanks

Is that happening only when you are viewing the video or continually, even when you are not viewing anything? If it is the former, I'd assume that your soundcard (and its driver) is incapable of playing sound streams simulteneously. A driver upgrade may solve it though I wouldn't hold my breath there. If it was the other case (which I doubt because that would mean you cannot hear any sound when watching movies either), you will need to reinstall your soundcard driver or check if you have any rampant programs 'stealing away' the soundcard resources.

                    Hello,

I'm not shure about the rampant program...what can this be. i have a firewall so I don't think someone is hacking my cp and I do use adware to make shure there is nothing installed that I don't want.

While using power Divx I could hear all the sound my other programes did not work not even when i was on the net.

Anyway I got fed up and deleted both Divx player and Power Divx.
Since then everything works fine and the movie even plays in windows media player

Today I will try reinstalling power Divx cause I like the programe and the interface better than wmp.

Thanks for the help I've tried other forums before and barely got any replies.
