Adjusting Position Subtitles

Hello All,
I hope somebody could help me with the following.
For my vacation I have converted a number of DVD's to an XVID format using AutoGK
I have also extracted the subtitles with the help of Subrip to .srt files.
My problem is that the position of the subtitles is often too high.
I have tried to search for a soltion via Google but nothing came up.

Is there any program which allows me to adjust the position of the subtitles?
Your suggestions would be very helpfull.

PS I have a Conceptronic Mediaplayer (CSM3PL) which only displays .srt and .smi subtitles.

If your player won't let you adjust subs from external files your only option may be to "burn" the subtitles into the video. See AviDemux subtitle filters. AviDemux has a Wiki with extensive documentation. Unfortunately this means reencoding the video. I recommend you try it with AviDemux 2.4 since that version produces good results in one pass mode.

Also AviDemux will let you snip a section of video and save it. You might use a 5 minute clip to test the subtitle filter and settings before encoding a whole movie.

You can take your original DVD and change the position of the subbies with DVD SubEdit. After that, you can extract the subtitles with different position information.
