Embed subtitles in movie, then VCD

Hello all,
I have a cd-writer and some movies in various formats like Divx, mpeg, etc...

I've already used TMPegenc and vcdeasy and successfully
created VideoCD-s which I've then watched on my dvd-player
capable of playing vcds...

I don't have a dvd-writer, that's why I can only make video-cds. My problem is somewhat more general, I've seen a similar post in Dec 2001 on this forum, it never got answered correctly.

The problem is that not my whole family knows english well, so I would very much like to embed the subtitles and then
burn the videocd with subtitles included. I have downloaded
the sources of VirtualDUB and will give it a try, but beforehand
I wanted to find out if somebody already did this simple task of
creating an avi (avi just for example, I can live with a mpeg or whatever too), from an avi and a subtitle file...

What software are u using? Subtitler (VD-filter) and Sub Station Alpha or something else?

Hi, I don't use any subtitler software, never heard about what you mention. I only have some .sub files grouped with some .avi files. And in order to see video-cds with subtitles I need the subs to be embedded in the avi files. Does this feature already exist? What software should I use?

after spending some time on your forum, I found exactly
what I needed, virtualdub + avery-lee subtitler plugin...
