i've been using dvd shrink to rip and nero recode to burn which has worked previously but now, although nero says the burn completed successfully, my dvd player says 'no disc' and my pc doesn't even recognise there's a dvd in the dvd-rom. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling nero and used a different brand of media. what could be the problem?

Rip the disc to HDD first using DVDFab Decrypter, then process the files with VobBlanker and finally edit and burn with Nero.

You will have to use DVDShrink to make it fit on a single layer DVD
You may want to try and burn with Imagburn
