When backing up a non-copy protected DVD-5 (<4.7 MB) to hard drive, how can I avoid getting 2 files (.nrg and .nrg.001) when using Nero recode 2, Backup DVD, Fit to target DVD-5, burn using Image recorder? specifically, how can I get just one .nrg file?...If I accidentally delete/forget to backup/ the .nrg.001 file, then I can't use the .nrg file. Thanks.

You can also choose your drive as the target instead of "Image Recorder"...put blank DVD into your drive and when the transcoding it finished it will burn your disc automatically. If no compression is needed I would follow UncasMS's advice and use DVDD by it's lonesome.

Is your drive formatted at FAT32? If so, convert it to NTFS. See Windows Help for how to do this (it is very safe and quick).

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.
