When i select MPEG LAYER -3 as the audio compression in FlaskMPEG 0.594 and click ok, i go back to see if the settings are still intact, and itswitches back to default when i click on select codec in the audio. The default setting is PCM. Why is it doing this? Also how come i can't pick a higher bitrate than 39kb/s in the audio? I want the audio at least at 96kb/s or at 128kb/s. Could someone please help me on this as i am looseing my mind here?

The two operative keywords are "select" and "default". the way this portion of Flask is structured, whenever you press "Select audio codec", it "defaults" to its original setting of PCM 48,000. Therefore, once you've selected your audio setting, don't go back to "check it".

As far as your limited MP3 setting choices, try installing the Radium MP3 codec. You should then be able to avail yourself of settings up to 320Kbps.

I still can't make the bitrate higher than 39kb/s in the audio compression section using FLASKMPEG 0.594. And i already installed radium mp3 codec. Any thoughts?

do not use flask for the audio part at all!

flask 059x has many problems with downsampling/handling/converting audio.

you better extract audio separetely, make a nice mp3 out of it and mux this mp3 via virtualdub/nandub into your video that flask has generated.

Which sofware should i use to extract the audio into mp3? Could i use DVD2AVI (1.86)?

I used DVD2AVI and it ripped at as a wav form. And i was wondering if i could keep at as a wav form at 96kb/s, which i could then mux it with my avi using virtualdub?

Yes you can. If the .Wav file is in uncompressed (PCM) format, I would, however, suggest that in VirtualDub, you convert it to .MP3.

I already converted my wav file into mp3 using dbpoweramp and it sounds wonderful. Now, what are the steps needed to mux it with my avi file. Cause i've seen the steps on virtualdub and it says that i have to compress my file into mp3, but if my file is already in mp3?

I hope you've not disposed of the .WAV file, as all of the versions of VDub that I'm familiar with will only accept .WAV files for multiplexing.

If you DO have the .WAV file, open VDub, change the "Video" setting to "Direct Stream Copying"

Load your silent .AVI

Under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select ".WAV audio". Select and load your .WAV file

Change "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"

Click on "Compression"

Select "MP3 and 96Kbps or 128Kbps

Under "File", select "Save .AVI". Save with a new name.

good job guys for helping me out. Now i heard that something about a 2 pass encoding using FlaskMPEG that will increase the quality of a divx movie. Is this true and if so, how do i do this?

Yes i did, the sound and the divx movie are running in synch. Thanx for the great help guys. But now i heard something about 2 pass encoding using FlaskMPEG and how do i do this?

Now i heard that u can do a 2 pass encoding using FlaskMPEG. Meaning that u first do a 1-pass encoding, then u do a 2-pass encoding giving it the movie a far more better quality? Is this true?

Yes it is. Possible since DivX 4.0 codec.

During the first pass, you create a log file wich describes every scene of the movie, if it's a low motion or a high motion scene.
During the second pass, the bitrate will be different according to the log file, in that high motion scenes will get a higher bitrate than low motion ones. Thus, better quality.

BUT, two passes also means twice longer !

could u show me the steps on the 2-pass encoding process using Flaskmpeg 0.594 or 0.600(preview). I dont like Xmpeg cause its not so stable. Just on how to prepare the 1-pass and then the 2nd pass. I really appreciate this....thanx!!!
