    Need help with Flask MPEG

    Hi,

I have a problem with Flask MPEG. When I close the program after a conversion, I have an error message (see Flask.jpg) and I need to rebbot my computer. The message say Flask MPEG made an error in Kernell32.dll.

This problem occur with Flask 06 and 0594, Divx4 and Divx3.11
    Any idea ??

Second problem : when I convert a DVD using Divx (3.11 or 4), I have a problem with the sound codec MP3 radium. This codec desappear from the drop down list of the output configure box. I can only use it once for a unique conversion, and if I want to convert another file, this codec is no more listed.
This is a grat problem for the 2pass Divx encoding : I can select MP3 Layer for the 2pass, first pass. But once finished, I want to do the 2pass, second pass, but the MP3 codec is not listed from the configure box. So I have an AVI file without sound.

    Any idea ??

    Thanks a lot.
    OLIVIER

PS : I have strictly followed the conversion guide from this site (Flask 06 with Divx4).

flask will always be a box of bugs.

make yourself familiar with better tools like for example nandub is my best piece of advice.

look around at all those complaints about flask, i've learnt my lesson more than a year ago and ever since i tried nandub i not only found a reliable (mpeg2avi was very reliable, toooo) tool, but also a quality that cannot be beaten!

have a go at nandub; its not as difficult as some people think!

in case you read german, take a look at my guide since you and i dont have to care for ntsc/ivtc as described in doom's or nicky's guides.

in case you are willing to give it a try and dont get along with german, contact me.

      Hi,

      Thanks for your answer.

I have never heard about Nandub, I am looking for it and try it.
And what about EasyDivx ?? Have you heard about it ? (http://easydivx.does.it)

I have try with FlaskMPEG another solution, selecting Open DML AVI as Output. I can choose the video and sound codec, and this time, MP3 sound codec stays in the list for the second pass encoding. I obtain an AVI file with sound. And I don't have any program error when I left Flask MPEG.
Is it correct to use this open DML Avi output ??

      Bye.

since i dont use flask no more, i'm not familiar with that option.
if it works for you: fine!

i have heard about easydivx but never tried it, since nandub gives me best possible quality.

if your looking for simpler tools you might try these:

        dvd2cd
        dvdx
        vidomi
xmpeg xis ( a flask derivate)

on the other hand nandub really is NOT that hard to use.
it wont take me longer than 10 min for all the settings and what you will get out of it, is the best you will ever encounter!

Let me tell you, we all know UncasMS as a Nandub addict

I'm using FlaskMpeg for a while know, and it's true than it still has small bugs, but none of then forbids you to get a quality divX.

To answer to your first questions :

          1/ error in Kernell32.dll
Don't try to close FlaskMpeg just after it finished the encoding. Let it rest a little bit, close all its openend buffer and it should be better. It's true that sometimes you have to reboot your PC, but it doesn't affect the written files.

2/ impossible to select MP3 codec for second pass
Why don't you simply close FlaskMpeg at the end of the first pass, and then open it again, re-select your parameters for 2nd pass and then flask it !
I agree it's a bit boring having to reenter all the parameters, but some are saved, and by this way, you'll have no more problems selecting to MP3 codec.
To resume : each time you finished something with flask, you have to quit.

          See you

              NANDUB....LOVE YA!

have to agree with UncasMS ....all my best encodes are done using nandub. been using it for about a 2 weeks with no hassles.
i too used to use flask.

a little bit is better than nada.
sometimes you want the whole enchilada.
