DVD2AVI problem: Aspect Ratio

I was looking ofr an answer in another section, but realized that I thought the error was occuring in the wrong stage.

Ok, so here's my problem:
I have a DVD movie in 2.35:1 aspect ratio (Widescreen), and it plays fine in Media Player, Zoom Player and PowerDVD. When I try to use DVD2AVI to create a project file (end result -> encoding to DivX), the stats window says that it is 16:9, and vertically stretches the video to match the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Any suggestions?

this is perfectly normal (you're probably using version 1.76). just remember that the movie is in 16:9 when you crop/resize during the setup for encoding.

But the movie's not in 16:9, its supposed to be in 2.35:1..

that's perfectly fine

2.35:1 IS one of the 16:9 formats
