DivX codec unregistered?

Used Gspot to check out my codecs and I get an error message that tells me my DivX decoder filter has an error 'Codec not registered'
Would this cause a problem with playback of video files?

did you try a simple re-install?

and for playback purposes FFDSHOW will be my recommendation!

Are you using 5.2 by any chance?? I have found a few problems with this software. But if you aren't then...
