Virtual Dub Problem

I have an AVI thats 702mb, need to chop 2mb off the end, so I'm trying to get rid of the credits. The problem is that when I do this using virtual dub the movie is fine until about 30 mins in, then the sound goes. I have also tried recompressing it again but when I open in WMP it just says "playing" but nothing happens. Any help help would be great.

Oh yeah forgot...

Tried AVI Chop as well but the end file causes a Quarttz.dll error in WMP, just like Flask.

try a different versiuon of vd or use nandub for splitting.

Sometimes this happens if the file is encoded not so well. Maybe the file was chopped and joined before. Than this things can happen. If nothing else helps, try to reencode the whole audio.

But why cut of 2 MB? Most CD-Rs allow 704 MB or more.

Had to re-encode audio, got it down to 648mb. Oh yeah, the cd's I had only let me record 701.9Mb. Thanx again

I have the exact same problem. Unfortunately I´m completely clueless how to re-encode the audio with virtualdub.

Could someone tell me what to do or point me to a page where it´s explained? Searching through the help in virtualdub didn´t help much.

Another VirtualDub problem

Most avi's files are ok when I open in VirtualDUB, but when I try to open some files, this error pops up:

Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42' (Microsof High-Speed MPEG-4 V2)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

I've tried with several codecs but still not working.
Please help, I appreciate it.

Try any of the Indeo (now controlled by Ligos) codecs.

The same error pops up afer I install Intel Video 5.11 codecs.

but don't worry about that. I have a major problem. I want to save space by resizing the video smaller. however, the resized file takes more space with worse quality than the original.

Is there a program better than Virtualdub at resizing??
