I gave this program a go cause I heard it gives great quality even on those movie that are heavily compressed, 2 to 3 hour movies, I just wanna know, which to recommend on DVD Rebuilder, the freeware or the Pro Version? and which encoder to use? Quenc, CCE, HC Encoder, etc., which one?
Which To Recommend

As a newbie on this program I still use the freeware version. Going to get the proversion - I like this program.
I have been using it on my old CPU AMD XP2000 and for a normal DVD9 it takes 10 hours.
Also been using the free HC Encoder ver 15A and that one is working very well - even with heavy 'shrinking' applied. Used the 'Best/Slowest' option for that encoder.
The tricky thing was to get an output size near 4480 Mb. As default you will end up on something around 4418 Mb.
There are some functions that don't exist in the free version of DVD Rebuilder. Movie only is one thing that is nice to use. For those cases I have first done it in DVD Shrink to get the source (movie only) and then used this program for the compression. -
I've been considering the pro version, mainly for the matrices option. But try the free version and get familiar with it. Then decide for yourself. Supposedly HC encoder is superior to other free encoders, only tried it once, it was fine. But it took twice as long as CCE, which is what I normally use. Good luck.Comment

HC is free and did a good job on the couple of tests I did with it. I have cce sp 2.5 which I use for all-in-one apps. cce does do a good job and is pretty fast.Comment

But really, what is more important? Time or quality.2CL C Henshin!

Save your money - CCE is hopeless for what you really need an encoding solution for - Low Bitrate Encoding. Hank's encoder eats it up - see tests by UncasMS in this sub-forum.
@cynthia - you can set your target sectors manually by editing the rebuilder.ini file. Add this line in the Options section:
TargetSectors=2293760
I also add this one so I can see all the VTSs (and blank them if needs be):
vts_min_size=0
Remember, all the menus are copied without shrinking. In the pro version there is a movie and menu mode only.

Depends what else there is on the disk. Many people have found that this is inaccurate and I think jdobbs is working on it.
2260000 = 4414Mb But you are getting 4480? Is the rest menus?
In any event, If you are a fe Mb over, DVD Shrink can come to the rescue (or MenuShrink!)

They're all about 50Mb too high. The higher settings, a little bit more.
Your experience follows this equation (wacky but true):
Actual = -197.14 + (TargetSectors*2.063857)
While, of course, it should be Actual = TargetSectors*2
