    Path setting to HC encoder seems not to work

    Installed the Pro version of DVD Rebuilder. This installed the 15 beta version of HC encoder batch in this location: C:\Program\DVD-RB PRO\Encoders\HC Encoder

    I don't want to use this one so I created a new folder in this path. This folder contains the ver 15 A of HC encoder batch. C:\Program\DVD-RB PRO\Encoders\HC Encoder\hcbatch 015a

    I also used the DVD Rebuilder setup inside the program to point the program to this new adress that contains the 15A batch encoder.

    The ini file seems right after this change:

    Code:
    [Options]
    Mode=5
    OneClick=1
    ReduceOpt=1
    NoWarn=1
    AdditionalOutput=1
    LogFile=1

    The problem is that the program still uses the old batch encoder in the folder C:\Program\DVD-RB PRO\Encoders\HC Encoder and not the new one that I have changed the programs settings to use.

    If I rename this old batch encoder to something else - then the program uses the one that I have linked to. It seems that the program always uses the batch encoder that resides in the default folder and do not use the setting you have done.

    Is this working as it should?

      The problem/bug (?) is still there. As long as there is a batch encoder in this location:

      C:\Program\DVD-RB PRO\Encoders\HC Encoder

      It don't use the one you have linked to in the DVD Rebuilders settings. The link only works if there is not a file named hcbatch.exe in the default location.

        What I did to make to make my "HCbatch_016_testrelease_08-09-2005.exe" work in my DVD-RB 0.94 (free) was ...

        Copy or have your "HCbatch_016_testrelease_08-09-2005.exe" file in your "C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\Encoders\HC Encoder" folder. In this folder, you have your previous version of HC. I had "HCbatch_015A.exe". You can remove or drag this file somewhere out the folder if you want.

        I renamed my ""HCbatch_016_testrelease_08-09-2005.exe" to "HCbatch_015A.exe".

        I then went into "C:\Program Files\DVD-RB" folder and edited my Rebuilder.ini file. In it look for

        [Paths]
        HC=C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\Encoders\HC Encoder\HCbatch_015A.exe.

        Just make sure that the exe file is the same as what you renamed your test exe to. Save.

        Note: I've tried to rename it to HCbatch16b.exe or HCbatch16.exe but it didn't work. I haven't tried out "HCbatch.exe" yet but as of right now, since it's working, I'm not going to test it out until my encoding is done.

          I don't know about separate folder names, but what I did to the test release was simply do as UNcasMS advised - change its name to HCbatch.exe and popped it into C:\Program Files\DVD-RB PRO\Encoders\HC Encoder

          I changed the old HCBatch.exe to HCBatch - 0.15 beta.exe and left it there. DVD-RB works with 0.16 beta fine.

          But I can see you might want to easily switch from encoder to the other. Changing the location should work. You might have found a little bug, cynthia.

                Just wanted to be a little organized at butting the different HC Encoder versions in different folders.

                  yo Cynthia, before you got the DVD Rebuilder Pro Version, what program were you using to burn when you were using the freeware one?

                      My guess is it's the "space" in the path name, seen this alot with various programs especially seems to affect foreign language users.

                        The HC filename was first mentioned here.

                        - Added support for the HC encoder developed by HANK315. This independently developed encoder provides exceptionally high quality (with some sacrifice in speed). Note: In order to work you must use version .01 of HC (with *BATCH setting) and the executable file must be named as "HC.EXE" and loaded into the same directory as DVD-RB.
                        Don't know at the moment if it still applies since the directory that HC must be in has been changed.

                        When I was using 0.15a, my filename was HCbatch_015A.exe and it worked. But, when I installed 0.16 beta and changed my filename to HCbatch_016b.exe, it didn't work. I ended up changing this version back to HCbatch_015A.exe and it works now. But only I know that it's not the right filename name to use.

                          I still think it's a bug that makes DVD Rebuilder to first search the root directory of RB and if it can find a .exe file at that place - it don't uses the path you have specified to the .exe that I want to use.
