the GUI version of hc016 is out now:

The GUI for HC016 is finally finished, also some bug fixes for the batch version and the manual is updated.

The GUI version doesn't have a built in encoder anymore, it uses the batch version for encoding.
      It has some new features:
      - load and save ini files
      - preview function
      - setting chapter points

      Get it at http://hank315.dyndns.org/HC_016.zip

      Recommended Avisynth version: 2.5.6a

        Aloha UncasMS,

Mahalo for providing this link. I used AviSynth 2.5.5 to frameserve HCbach 0.16 in command line and it created excellent quality. The reason that I don't want to use version 2.5.6a because it is still in the Alpha phase though and version 2.5.5 has nerver failed on me yet

        Regards

              How is it used

Any idea how this new version is used? I noticed that it has a GUI exe also. Does this run by itself without DVDRB, or is it used with DVDRB like all the other verisons have been?

the gui version is not used with rebuilder, as rebuilder itself is sort of a different gui controlling the program

if you want to use rebuilder, make a backup of your existing hcbatch.exe and use the latest hcbatch_016.exe as the new hcbatch.exe (i.e. copy it to the encoder subfolder in rb and rename it to hcbatch.exe)

this latest exe is NOT included in any rebuilder version so far and it should be used as it is the most advanced and bugfixed version of hc so far

                  Hi Inbot,

You can use HCGUI 0.16 itself as a standalone tool to encode. It only accepts .avs files of AviSynth and .d2v files of DGIndex or DVD2AVI

                  Regards

Edit: Sorry UNcasMS, I didn't know you are online

Bah. I'm so used to using RB, that I'll just replace hcbatch.exe with the new one. I presume that whether RB or the HC GUI is used, the end result will be essentially the same. I currently have no reason to deviate from RB. It sounds like the RB method is simpler anyway. Conversion to .avs would be another needless step for me, since RB does that already. Thanks.

rb is quite different as the hcgui for example will take care of videostream conversion but there is no such thing as a final authoring step or an easy filter editor, a shutdown command .....

hcgui will be a good choice when converting your cam's dv material to dvd compliant format but it will require a little more effort of course
