These times seem awfully long. I have an AMD XP 3200+ (2.2GHz) with 512MB of memory. I purposely use that computer because it's middle of the road -- because faster computers make lazy programmers (like me) fail to write efficiently.
Using 2 pass CCE it normally takes about 2 hours for an encode. For very long movies I've seen it go as high as 3 hours. HC takes about 50% longer.
I think the secret is HD usage. I created a separate partition for the video stuff and I keep it defragged.Last edited by jdobbs; 27 Jan 2006, 01:55 PM.Comment

@jdobbs - I find procoder is very long process. I'm not worried and I have an old machine AMD 1700! But it works.

It usually takes around 2 hours on my Athlon64 3500+ using cce with 2 passes. I have found that with 2 passes, the quality is outstanding. Using Nan's DgDecode.dll and using idct = 6, it seems to really fly. Of course, I would like to add another gig of Corsair pc3200 memory. I have a gig of it now. Those dual-core procs look really sweet. Oh well, I can dream about it till I can actually AFFORD to buy oneComment

I would strongly suggest everyone to check their avisynth filters, most of them do a good job but are not optimized for speed and are not SSE compatible.
Choose the ones which are SSE enabled for better speeds and since there are multiple filters available for a desired job for eg denoising etc, you have a choice.Comment

Make an ISO and burn with ImgBurn. See if that works. Ner0 doesn't like 0 byte files - that could be the problem.
