New machine - advice on new setup needed

Finally got the new machine with all software the way I like it.

Have AMD 3800x2 with Procoder 2. Running 2 x 300Gb SATA striped and pretty fast RAM (2-3-3-8).

• To get the most out of it, do I just tick "Multiple Encoder Processes"?
• Also what recommendations for Decoder iDCT? The chip can do MMX+, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, x-86-64

Appreciate any advice from hard core dual core users.

Yes, it helps, you might be able to save 1-2 hrs.

The difference is not noticable since I have used both iDCT=6 and iDCT=7. But Skal's iDCT is not as per the standards, but causes no problems.

i use nothing else since my idct speed test

What is non-compliant about skal (SSE/MMX)? I mean how far away from IEEE-1180 is it? I guess not enough for anything to choke on it. But any noticeable loss in quality due to larger idct error differences from IEE1180? And on exactly what measurements of error does skal not conform?

And has anyone here done some tests with NaN's decoder? What's the latest version that can be used with DVD Rebuilder?

I do not know whats non-compliant, but my eyes couldnt see any differences. Probably Neuron can answer this.

I think its ver 1.1.1.0, which is the latest, its supposed to give you some speed enhancements.

no difference in quality between skal & IEEE, checked with subtract() & levels()

also it's the default in dgindex, nuff said

32-bit MMX (1 in INI file, D2V file and CLI)
32-bit SSE MMX (2)
32-bit SSE2 MMX (3)
64-bit Floating Point (4)
IEEE-1180 Reference (5)
Skal SSE MMX (6)
Simple MMX (7)
Algorithms that are not supported by your processor are automatically deleted from the menu, so you may not see all of the above options.

The iDCT algorithm that you should use depends primarily on what CPU you have, and to a lesser degree on the desired iDCT accuracy. All of the available options are IEEE-1180 compliant. For more information on iDCTs please see the DGDecode manual.

Quality: IEEE-1180 Reference > 64-bit Floating Point > Remaining iDCTs.

Speed: SSE2MMX is the fastest. IEEE-1180 Reference is the slowest.

Sata comp. is supper fast, my old comp. decode old chinese movies take 10-20 hrs the sata with dual core take 2-4 hrs

My question is what is the purpose of EM64T?

How fast has procoder with re-builder been running with your new dual core?

Haven't actually timed it on a frame basis yet, but it has cut encoding by 2/3 at least. Will report back when next running.
