HC Encoder version 0.19 is released

Q1. Do nothing but copy the encoder over into the "Encoders\HC Encoder" folder or DVD Rebuilder will most likely not work. DVD Rebuilder works with certain version DGDecode only.

Q2. See Q1. HCEnc can work with later versions of DGDecode on its own, but DVD Rebuilder works with 1.4.5 IIRC.

i had a problem in my first tyr with HC-19.

ripped "take the lead" with ripit4me, used RB-pro/ hc-19 in best quality mode/ whole movie mode and the folder came out 4.40 GB.

Did you use the beta preview/editor? It should tell you the output size. Then for good measure give it one click to the left if the estimated size is anywhere near 4.38 Gb.

Tests on DVDrebuilder with the freeware version 098 modified to remove the HC018 encoder to add the HC019 encoder were great.

Compression was minor at approximately 4-5 percent, could not tell a difference from the HC018 to the HC019 version with the human eye, on a 27 inch full screen TV, both pictures were very crisp and sharp.

uncheck 1 click mode if thats what you use. make sure "Use beta (test) viewer/editor" is checked (under settings). run the prepare phase - when its done, click on the Preview/Edit tab. you should see a slider and the target output size. you can move the slider to adjust the output size.

i myself just use ccetargetsectors=2254000 and hctargetsectors 2263000 and it always ends up being between 4464 and 4475mb. i also preprocess all my dvd's, so i just open them with DVD-RB and encode.

btw, if you're using the default targetsectors (ie, you havent changed it in the ini) it shouldnt even come close to oversizing.

I have now used DVDRB 0.98 with HC019 and encoded 2 of movies ... I used the "Best" setting.

Q: Why is my movies rebuild ... well seem "Darker"? The best I can describe it ... is Darker ... may be some would call it Richer ... !?!? Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Or do I need to turn on something else for a more "Natural" coloring look.

You should untick the "convert to YUY()" option, its not required for HC. Probably thats causing a color change. For filters goto the sticky post in this forum.

I just unticked my YUY ... but unfortunately I have already deleted my files ... I have only one file that I can run it thru HC019 with this untick setup and see if I can see a difference.
