Nero won't install

I have succesfully burned data cd's with Roxio Easy CD Creator . However, to burn vcd's and svcd's I would like to use NERO.

To install NERO, I uninstalled Roxio Easy CD Creator first, and then installed NERO. However, I believe (I apologize for the vaguness) I receive some aspi error, and some dialog box with "virtual" drive/recorder information. In short, I cannot burn with NERO. How can I get NERO to work? I have windows 98 se, a p200 computer.

I have used NERO on my system, but with an older cd-rw drive and I have burned succesfully.

I would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance

NERO uses/refers to your harddrive as its "virtual drive".

Try installing the ASPI driver that should have come with NERO - since NERO definitely doesn't like the one that comes with Roxio...

The only files I could find were 3 copies of winaspi32.dll

I have also seen this file on the ahead.de website---it says you can manually place this file in the NERO directory. When I install NERO, should I manually place this file in the NERO directory?

If the author's website (ahead.de) suggest that, it certainly seems appropriate...

(You might want to temporarily change the names of those three winaspi32.dll files)

I will try to place winaspi32.dll in the NERO directory. In the meantime, to make up for the lack of information, I have attached the precise error given by NERO.

You may be lacking/requiring a file named "winaspi.dll" (different than "winaspi32.dll).

Suggestion - Next time you have to post a window image, hold down the Alt key while pressing the PrintScreen key. This way you'll get a copy of the "live" window, rather than the entire desktop ;>}

After doing as the manufacturer recommended (winaspi32.dll in the nero folder), a new error pops up:

"could not open driver. trying system aspi."

Then I am again confronted with the error that I attached. Any ideas?

Well I just used your tip Setarip . I ran the adaptec aspi verification utility, and it appears I do not have the latest versions of aspi installed.

My question, is where would I obtain the latest aspi drivers?

I downloaded the latest drivers from the adaptec website. I have now burned succesfully 2 vcd's.
