I downloaded a movie, tried to convert it using TMPGEnc, could not do it. So, I decompressed the audio and tried using TMPGEnc on it again. Did same thing. I will attached the error message I am getting in TMPGEnc.

1) You have to either install the Microsoft MPEG4 version3 codec, or use a FourCC changer to change the codec information to that of DivX v.3.11.
2) TMPGEnc cannot handle VBR (Variable Bit Rate) .MP3 audiostreams, such as the one contained in this video. Therefore, simply use VirtualDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into VirtualDub
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"

If, in fact, you've PROPERLY installed the Microsoft MPEG4 version3 codec, I'm at a loss to understand why TMPGEnc will not accept the audio portion of the .AVI.
Just out of curiosity, if you NOW load the .AVI into VirtualDub, does VirtualDub still generate an error - adn, if so, what is the error?Comment

To Batman
Perhaps you're "trying too hard".
"Try the "latest" version of TMPGenc"
Even the VERY oldest version of TMPGEnc (v.11) is capable of handling the video codec involved here, as well as .WAV audio...
(It's still the QUALITY, not the QUANTITY, that is meaningful - especially to those seeking assistance)Comment
