Hi,
This is my problem.
I have a few AVI files downloaded from Imesh.
When I load , say 'Goldmember' into Virtual dub I get a improper VBR audio stream error appear.
That's not it, I then save the WAV. Then save the Avi.
Then I load the WAV and AVI into TMPGenc.
That encodes to MPG fine. THE PROBLEM IS : Once the avi's finshed encoding, the MPG is now too big to go on a disc.
Now I've read everywhere that it's better to split before encoding, but how can I split the avi, whilst still having the VBR error in Virtual dub??
I've tried splitting the avi with VDub, then opening the 1of2 file back up in VDub, then saving the wav and avi seperatley again, but no joy.

Please help, I've got the working MPG, but can't burn onto VCD. It's soooo frustrating!!

Should I split the finalised mpg instead??
What software would I use for that??

Adlready gave this tip to one guy in the forum so I will give you the same answer. Just make sure to get the VDub that can run with VBR MP3's (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...irtualdub.html) download the one called: "VirtualDub MP3+Freeze".

You could try to use VirtualDub and frameserver the files top TMPEnc, you can choose to only encode part of the movie, so you can split it up to two.

You open your VDub directory and run "Auxsetup.exe" and press "Install handler" then you restart your computer.

when this is done yu load the file in VDub and choose where the first part have to end press the "Home" button on your keyboard to select that it is here you want the selection to be cut from, move to the end of the movie and press the "End" button to dselect it is here you want to cut to. press the "Del" button, to delete the section you just selectet.

Press "File-->Start Frame server" and press start on the first window and on the next select what you want your frameserver file to be called, and writ "Filename.VDR" the VDR is very importent otherwise TMPEnc won't be able to know it can use the file.

Load the file you just made in TMPEnc and do what you normally do to make a VCD.

To do the second part of the movie just do as the first part but just selec the beginning of the movie insted of the ending.





TIP: Resize in VDub because it is faster at it than TMPEnc.

If your video runs longer than 60 minutes, you'll have to subsequently split your VCD-MPG file in two. This too can be easily and precisely accomplished using TMPGEnc. Under the "Files" dropdown menu, click on "MPEG Tools" and select the "Merge & Cut" tab. Once again, make sure to change the mode to "MPEG1-Video CD". Load your file and enter a new (.MPG) name in the "Output file" box. Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL file's name in the window, which will bring you to the cutting area. Select your desired start and end points for the first half, click on "Okay" which will bring you back to the first window and generate (in a sequence of three automated steps) the first new file. To create the second new file, repeat the steps starting with "Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL..." (be extra patient with the second half, as the program has to do more seeking to establish the beginning of the new file).
