questions about svcd

Hi,

I know about VCD, but can someone fill me up with the difference between VCD and SVCDs? Does it provide better quality? Longer playtime? or does it even play under standard DVD player? Which windows Program would I use to decode SVCDs?

the diffrence is vcd=mpeg1 video&audio
svcd=mpeg2 video&audio better quality
