Ok, I converted an avi file to mpeg and then burned it. After I burned it I put it in the DVD player and the quality was great just one problem. The faces on the screen where long. I think this was a widescreen file but my question is how do I put it back into wide screen instead of a full screen with long faces? I'm not in the mood to watch long faces(old westerns...lol). The size was 640x480 which I think is 4:3, but in full screen. How do I change this to get the widescreen on my TV screen, instead of widescreen full on my TV screen?
Widescreen?

If you were converting in TMPGenc, simply change the aspect ratio to 16:9 (widescreen). Or, since its a widescreen movie originally, you can choose to "keep aspect ratio". Hope it helps.Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Try the following in TMPGEnc:
Click the "Video" tab and change applicable settings to: 352X240 (PAL 352x288), 4:3 (NTSC or PAL as appropriate) 525 Line. Click the "Advanced" tab and change applicable settings to: "16:9 Display", "Center (Keep aspect ratio)", and 352x240 (PAL 352x288).

Ok, I finally got the video in widescreen but now I have another problem with it. When I use Nero to burn it there are a lot of freezes in the video on my DVD player. Should I use another software? I just upgraded Nero. What other software is good, I didn't like Roxio Easy CD Platinum and that takes up too much space.
Oh yeah here are my results. I changed the source to 2.11:1 and then did a little math with the dimensions but didn't use the Use the Same Aspect Ratio, and it came out fine. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the delayed reply(holidays).Comment
