You can also try a popular format for creating a type of video-cd, a modification to the format to be exact. A popular one which has surprising good quality and takes up less space is KVCD You can put up to 120 minutes on 1 80min cd-r!

      Chickeneater:

I'll answer the second part of your question first. For SVCD it depends on the capacity (megabytes) of the CD. For VCD it depends on how you look at it.

That being said I need to explain a few other things. CDs are generally labeled with their "mode-1" capacity. VCDs and SVCDs are written to in "mode-2" format. An 80 minute/700mb mode-1 CD actually holds approximately 800mb mode-2.

The VCD specification only allows for a single constant video bitrate of 1150 kbits/sec. When you add in the audio and work up the math that equates to 80 minutes on an 80minute/700mb mode-1/800mb mode-2 disk.

SVCDs can be made within the SVCD specification, with different video bitrates up to a maximum combined (audio and video) bitrate of 2748 kbit/s. Since you can lower the bitrate ultimately having the affect of allowing more time on that 800mb mode-2 CD, there is no fixed time limit per CD for SVCDs.

You can add a little more capacity to a CD if you overburn. Not all CDs, burners or players support overburn.

I think you mean how to put the "template" in tmpgenc so you can convert to that format...

Anyway, simply download the files somewhere, then put them in the folder where you extracted TMPGenc, and in the /template folder. C:\Unzipped\TMPGEnc Plus v2.54.37.135.\Template<---Thats what it looks like for me. Then, whenever you load up TMPGenc, you should be able to select KVCD among the other vcd, svcd, and dvd templates.

            SVCD 35-45 minutes
            This is incorrect:

Depends on the bitrate. I have fit 70 min on a CDr at 2000. But I would not recommend it. 60min should be the most amount, if you want the advantage SVCD can give you at 2200 VBR.

http://www.dvd2svcd.org/ use this and 1 pass vbr encoding at 1600 kb for 16 9 movies and 1900 kb for 4 3 movies i have put 2 hours and 15 minutes of 16 9 on one single cd with vhs quality there are alot of variations to make that will affect the size use bicubic encoding and reduce your audio to 160 kb you can go lower but gets scratchy with certain sounds there is a help forum for this program and it works excellent you will need either tmpgenc or cinemacraft encoder i reccomend the cinemacraft much faster and the quality is better per mb used after figuring the program out you will beable to make high quality 16 9 movies and put them on one disk 4 3 will GUARANTEE a 2 disc usage the program can also add title screens and switch disc screen with any picture you would l;ike to insert. and the total runtime on my 2000 amd is 1 to 1 and what i mean is if its a hour and a half movie my vcd file will be ready in 1 and a half hours use vcdeasy to burn either the cue file(which is when you create menus) or the bbmpeg file which is a raw mpeg2 file good luck and i dont think youll ever use anything else, oh did i mentuion it works with avis and divx also try it out, boy i sound like a salesman here lol and the software is free
