    svcd problem

    i just got a 3-svcd set from a friend, but it don't work. The guy that made it sais it's ok, but i can't get it to work. I tried to copy the AVSEQ01.MPG file from the MPEG2 directory to my HD but it' wont read it. I tried to fix it with VCDGear, but it got 1000's of errors and the file did'nt work. I tried to de-multiplex using TmpEnc but it said that the file was'nt an MPEG file. Are the disks useless or is there a way to fix them?

    Try extracting the mpeg file with VCDGear GUI. The guide can be found here

        I have allready tried to play with a software player - no success
        I have also tried copying the MPG using VCDGear (and GUI) - no success

        The strange thing is that in WinExplorer i can see all the files on the discs, but i can't copy them. When i try, it's just like they can't even be found.

        I guess the disks are useless...

          Yes the discs are probably corrupt in that case...

          When you turn the cd to the "burnt" side, are there scratches or some marks on it?

              Technically every cd-rom should be able to read overburnt cd's, unless the cd-rom is old. How old's your computer?

              And are you sure that the cd's actually do play, or are you just taking the guys word?

                Last shot:

                Have you tried playing them on a standalone DVD player that plays SVCDs?

                  No I have'nt. I don't have a dvd player that plays svcd's, and i don't know anyone that have one...

                  I just have to accept the loss...

                    Or, if it's a TRUE friend, ask for a new set - and have your friend play them before giving them to you ;>}
