Getting the most out of VCD?

Newbie here. My DVD-player doesn't support SVCD, but VCD.

What is way to get the best quality possible when I am going to burn a movie?

Is there any tricks to come closer to SVCD-quality?

You may want to try the "vcd header trick". Basically, your dvd player is tricked into playing an svcd as it assumes that it is a vcd. It may or may not work, possibly worth a try:

The procedure detailed at that link is just a bit misleading, in that there's no need to deal with separate video and audio streams.

      Use TMPGEnc as follows:

      Create a normal SVCD, then

      File>>MPEGTools>>Simple Multiplex

      Load your SVCD file

      Change mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD"

Enter a new filename in the "Output" box

      Press the "Run" radio button

(Do not be concerned about any "Buffer underflow" messages you may see)

Burn (DO NOT ask burning software, such as NERO to CONVERT to VCD, rather merely BURN as a VCD)

        Hello " davii"

To start visit this Standalone players list {click here} Locate your player and see what others have done or had to say.

On the a better note. VCD compliant must be 1150 bytes. You can raise the bitrate up to 2,000 or more and make an xVCD. This will be your best Mpeg1 quality that you can do. Keep in mind you may need to add more CDs cause this format throws out the time marked on the CDs.

As mentioned TMPGEnc does now have a xVCD template.
