I have got a hauppauge wintv usb and I have managed to use it to capture tv programs directly in WMV format using windows media encoder. I start the capture and I don't get any sound but if I then start wintv 2000 and close it, I get the sound.
anyway, I've been trying to find out how to make vcds because they are higher quality than 500kb/s wmv files. I'd preferably like a way to either capture directly into vcd format (not sure if it's possible) or to capture into some other format and convert. The only trouble is, I've got about 5gb of harddisk space left and I'd rather not fill it all up.
I tryed to use virtual dub to capture and it didn't work, and I've tried winvcr and that didn't work. so what program will actually make mpg1 and 2 files directly from my stupid capture card without being really rubish quality. *or* is there a way I can convert wmv files to a vcd (if I made really highquality wmv files....) thanks for any help anyone can provide.
