    Oh yeah, I forgot. I have no problem viewing the avi file with WMP. I just can't split in half with VirtualDub so I can burn it on cds. I get that error message above.

        A different program, VirtualDubMod; may even have the necessary codec. Unfortunately I'm not at my home machine so I'm just guessing here.
        This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!
