Here ya go: File->Preferences->Expert Features and i would put 82:00 mins as the max overburn.

As for how much you can overburn, it really depends on the media.

Using NERO CD SPEED you can calculate the amount by which a particular cd-r/rw can be overburned.

Secondly, overburning will work only in DISK-AT-ONCE (DOA) mode.

Sort of an add-on question what is the difference using Disk-At-Once?

In Disc-at-Once recording, one or more tracks are recorded without ever turning off the recording laser, and the disc is closed. Disc-at-Once recording requires a blank disc, and cannot be used for multisession.

However, compared to Track-at-Once recording, the recording laser is turned off after each track is finished, and on again when a new track must be written, even if several tracks are being written in a single recording operation.

I gave the nero cd speed a try.My overburn test came up with 13 minutes extra and found no errors and to try a larger capacity test.Does this actually mean i can test it to its limits and write it out?

13 minutes? Are you sure? So you can burn 93 minutes on an 80 min/700 mb cd-r/rw? Sorry for the skepticism, but I haven't seen or heard of such an amazingly high overburning capacity. What did NERO CD SPEED tell you. Perhaps you can post a screenshot.

You can give it a try, however be aware that it may not work perfectly. Even if the burn is succesful, it will be more prone to scratches and errors. But give it a go. See if it works out. Also, please provide more information on the brand of CD-r/rw you are using (this can be obtained by using cdrid (search google.com) or doom9.org for downloading).

I can burn 825MB on a 700MB cdr using the wonderful mode 2 cd maker "m2cdmgui" it turns the file into mode 2 which can be burned as a *.bin and *.cue files.

Chickeneater, how does mode 2 burning fare with avi files? Have you experienced any errors on these discs?

only 1 out of 20, 1/20, 5% chance of not working.

it does work with avi files. that is why I use it, to burn the bigger movies that wont normally fit on a 700MB cd. the one that didn't work was pretty big, 870MB. It was my first and most succesful dvd rip. ):
