I want to dupe the whole dvd, is there away?

I just bought a region free, and macro free dvd player, and can make backups of my dvd's for my other apt, so that I don't have to move all my dvd's everytime I go from one place to the other or buy two dvds of the ones I really like. But the quality to tape, obviously does not compare. Before I go through this whole dvd into two parts and then to vcd or svcd and the burn them to two or 3 cdrs. I wanna understand this better, all this is just for the movie right? Is there anyway to actually make a full copy of the dvd? So that I keep all the features and menus and everything? Does a dvd writer do this? is that the only way?
Thanks for the help guys, this is all new and real interesting, but confusing as hell.
