What are your opinions about this?

To make VCDs I used to use DVD Decryptor to put them to my hard drive, then use DVDx to rip em, then Nero to burn them, everything on maximun quality.

My friend used to use different software to make his VCDs and his quality was always rubbish. He used to use DVD Coppy or summit.

Does anyone have a better or easier way for either of us?

    Opinions are usefull here!

Yes I know SVCD is better qualit but this is usualy 3-4 disks long...

I mean I have to turn my PC off at night and back on in the morning, can you stop the ripping and restart it later?

Why do you have to turn off your pc.

No matter ,usally an encoding process would take up
                  6hrs on a p4/amd athlon xp (3000mhz)
                  7hrs on celeron/amd duron/crusoe/gx (2000mhz)

                  10-12hrs on p3 / athlon (700-1000mhz)

If you start in the morning your encoding process should be finished.

My family doesn't like me keeping my PC on on the night...

I have a 2.0GHz AMH Athlon XP procesor with 256 MB DDR RAM memory, how long is that?

It won't take up 3 cd's if you set pinnacle correctly.
