    Clean black on video start

I have made up a video in Vegas video 4e. On the timeline I had 11 second black gaps between each video sequence.

Used tmpgenc to make the mpeg files.

I was hoping vcdeasy [1.1.5.2] would be able to find a neat black point in between the video's so that in the chapter section, each video chapter would start from black.
That doesn't happen. When I am setting up a new chapter, it always has a bit of the last video as the starting point. That looks a bit messy to me so how can I make for a clean black start for each video.

    Thanks

Come on guys!..surely someone has had this problem? All I want to do is have a 2 or 3 second gap of black between each video clip.
Can you help. I'd really appreciate it...p-l-e-a-s-e.

When you are using TMPG to convert the video into MPEG select the GOP Structure tab and click FORCE PICTURE TYPE and then click the SETTINGS button.

This will give you a view of every single frame of video you have. Select the frames where you want your chapter stops to begin. When you're done then start encoding. This will make it so you can select exactly where you want you chapters to begin when using VCDEasy. Hope this helps.

        Thanks for the post Maynard

I see what you mean. I now know where to end a sequence acurately which is cool, but how do I cut out the black in between video sequences.

        History...
In Vegas 4 editing, I made a 10 or 11 second black gap between video sequences because earlier trials showed that I couldn't get a clean 2 second gap of black between chapters in VCDEasy [ I'm using 1.1.5.2] ...Each time I jumped to the next potential chapter point , it would blead into the start of the next chapter. If I reversed, ity would blead into the last of the previous chapter. So that's why I made a 10 sec gap to make sure, but even that didn't make a difference, the next chapter still had a blead into the start of the video. Now, in Tmpegenc I want to delete these long black gaps before it goes into VCDEasy...so can I do that in Tmpegenc or do I have to go back to the timeline editing in Vegas and delete the black there?

It would be much more efficient if I can do this in Tmpeg or VCDeasy.
        Thanks

TMPG will do that. But, just like the problem with the chapters, TMPG will probably not cut right where you want it to. But you can try it and see if it works. It's in the MPEG TOOLS option. Click the MERGE AND CUT tab, load your video, double click on the file and then you can select the first start and stop time. Start at the beginning of the file and end at the first black spot. Reload the same video and double click that one and make that beginning just after the first black spot and the ending at the 2nd black spot. Etc etc...

If it bleeds over like it did in VCDEasy then use my suggestion to create the stops and reencode the video and then you should have no problem.
