    VCD filesize

    Hi,

I was very pleased to have my question answered in thread 'Trying to burn VCD onto CD'.
So I have to split the movie in order to have it in vcd or svcd...
Okay, I'm a newbie, so sorry about the next question:
Just yesterday I watched a 700 Mb vcd containing the whole 'Last Samurai' movie - and the quality wasn't any bad - nice audio, etc! How's that possible?

    Thanks!

they prob. used KVCD it can be found on kvcd.net if you want to try to use it it will tell you every thing that you need to burn every thing on a single cd but keep in mind that it has to be an avi file to do this

Well, I wouldn't have noticed--it had the same file structure as a vcd...

      Thank you!
      You've been very kind!

          Just a correction:

TMPGEnc can open just about any type of source videos: not just AVI's. It's even possible to convert directly from a DVD source when you use it in conjunction with DVD2AVI.

It's good to see someone else mention kVCD's for once, they seem to have a sort of underdog status - not sure why. The difference in capacity/quality compared to "compliant" VCD is mind-boggling.
