    Editing MPEG digital video files?

I'm was ask to edit some MPEG video file by my boss, which I never had experience of. I was told Vegas Video 3 is a good program, and I download the Demo of it. But it said, "It didn't have plug-in for it." How can I buy the software without even trying it out. Is there any ways that I can edit my MPEG file, which includes add texts, cutting and combining. Or recommand me any sites that can help me better understanding video editing. Thanks for your help!

Did you download and install Microsoft Direct-X 8? Direct-X 8 or later is a requirement for Vegas Video 3.

        mak15,

I haven't had any direct experience using Vegas Video 3.0 so far, although I have downloaded the demo and the PDF manual. Therefore I am going to direct you to a specialized source of information about Vegas Video. It is the Sonic Foundry Vegas Family Forum, which serves the Vegas family of products including Vegas Video and Vegas Audio. The following link will open showing threads 1-10 of 4183 threads. You should use the "Older Topics" link to access previous topics in groups of 10.

Happy hunting. You might also try contacting Sonic Foundry tech support directly.

From what I have seen of Vegas Video 3.0 so far, it is an excellent program. Some people think it is competitive with Apple's Final Cut Pro 3, which is high praise indeed. For example, see:

          mpeg tool box

Why not use "DVDCutter Stream and Mp3CDWav Converter" where you can find the submenu "MPEG Tool Box"
As for the software, you can download it from www.******.com
