I have many compiliation type dvds full of short clips. I am interested in taking parts from several of these dvds...saving them to my hard drive then compiling my own list of clips and then burning them onto one dvd. Does anyone know any software avaiable to make this happen....Thanks in advance. )

you could
1 use the re-author mode in dvdshrink and cut the part/s then save to your hard drive
2 rename the vob files from each VIDEO_TS folder in numerical order ie 1st folder VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB etc.
3 VIDEO_TS folder 2 continue in numerical sequence from the 1st folder
4 do this for all of the VIDEO_TS folders
5 make an empty VIDEO_TS folder
6 copy all the renumbered vob files to the empty VIDEO_TS folder
7 use Ifoedit (free) and click on "create IFO's
8 browse to the VIDEO_TS folder with the new vob's
9 load the 1st vob and Ifoedit will do the rest
for a detailed guide go to the ifoedit website -
If you can live with one audiostream and no subtitles for eachDVD clip, it may be simpler to use the commercial program TMPGEnc DVD Author to use the "Add track" feature (since chances are not all of your DVDs have identical video and audio formats) to load each of your DVDs and edit out the parts you don't want to keep. You can then, if you like, add a menu and chapters.
You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

You could use DVD Shrink in re-author mode as Tigerman has suggested. This guide makes it very easy (steps 2-9 automated).
It matters not at all if your video has "different video and audio characteristics" (as ashes has supposed), since, in this mode, DVD Shrink puts each title in its own independent titleset (VTS).
