I have started to back up my DVD's staight to VCD using Flask MPeg with the BBMpeg plug-in and then using TMPGEnc to cut it at a convenient point for 2 CD-Rs. The quality seems to be adequate and I will probably start trying to jazz them up with menus shortly to fill the unused space but I have a couple of general queries.
1) Is this the best way to create VCDs or have I missed the boat?
2) Am I correct saying there is no point in cropping the frame in FlaskMpeg as it MUST be 352x288 for VCD (PAL)?
3) I made one film 352x240 to get rid of some more black but the final picture was at the top of the TV. Is this because it is an NTSC sized frame?
4) I have tried to backup 'Meet the parents' but straight away the audio is out of sync with the video. By the end of the film, it is over 5 minutes out even before I have split the file. Do I need to encode the tracks separately and bring them together later, or is there a setting I can alter at encoding stage?
The answers to these are most probably on this site but I seem to be learning far too much about other video stuff to go looking for it. Any help much appreciated.
