    1150kbps a must?

    Hello forum,

Prior to writing some VCDs using Nero I converted some AVIs to MPEG in TMPGEnc and set the bitrate to 1150kbps but I thought I'd try setting the bitrate to 1500kpbs on the last couple of files because I thought this would improve quality of the video.

Anyway, it seems my Pioneer DV-414 stand alone DVD player does not like to play back VCDs with a bitrate other than 1150kbps because the sound is all broken and totally rooted.

Is this to be expected? Is 1150kbps a must?

    Thank you.

VCD protocol requires that the SUM of the bitrates (video plus audio) must equal 1,374...

      Thank you Setarip.

I guess I will have to seek out other methods to improve the image quality of the VCDs I've been making.

Thank you once again for taking the time to reply to my question.

Check out if your player can play SVCDs. You can use much higher bitrate.
