need some help please

hey

i need some help wif conversion, im not very good at it, well i just know the basics

could someone tell me why when i try convert a divx file to mpg sometimes it doesnt have any sound when i play the mpg file? on normal .avi files it works perfectly coz i use them to change to vcd, but on dvd divx rips sometimes the sound is unpresent.

i use TMPG to convert it and virtual dub to cut the avi file.

could someone help me please, greatly appreciated

By using TMPGenc you don't need anything like virtual dub. Just make sure you have the newest version anytime. (at this time i'm using version 2.54) This one will automatically look for a possible audio stream in the file. I've never had any problems with it. If you still have problems, try the wizzard. GL

If the .AVI's audiostream is in either .AC3 or VBR (Variable Bit Rate) MPEG3, TMPGEnc will only process the video, as it cannot handle those audio formats.

To determine of this is your problem load the .AVI into VirtualDub. From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information" and post here a screen capture JPG. If you're unable to do that, list here EVERYTHING (video and audio) you see in the information box...
