sound glitches in the mpeg

after i change the avi to mpeg with tmpeg, i watch the new video over to see the quality. Every once in a while a high pitched sound comes out. like a squeak. is there a way to fix this?

As unrelated as it may seem, I believe if you go into TMPGEnc's "Preferences" (or similar) and UNcheck the "Sound when finished", you'll be pleasantly surprised...

i worked to a certaib point, definately less than before but is there a way to eliminate that noise completely?

Make certain that the audio for the MPEG is set to at least 44,100Hz...
