I don't really know what a KVCD is.......probaly a xVCD. Id say to encode to SVCD. I love the quality of SVCD's. The normal person will never even see a diffrent between a SVCD and a DVD.

I know I didnt really give ya much of an answer but IMO SVCD rox.

As I couldnt connect to that site you listed.

i've tried the KVCD, but i modified the resolution a little to standard VCD (352x288 [PAL]). The quality is actually quite good, and you can get a 120min movie on 1 CD. On my computer it played great, but when i played it with my standalone (Pioneer DV-737) the sound got delayed about half a second.

      So:

      - If you are watching on a computer it's quite good

      - If you want to watch it on a standalone player stick with the standard formats

(of course: it could work better on your player...)

Did you try the mods for your DVD model?
Pioneer DV-733A and DV-737 ! ! Change MIN bit rate to 700, encode as
standard VCD ( not as non-standard VCD )

That's what's listed on the DVD compat. page.

I just got a Pioneer DV-333 and it plays fine, but only their 352x240 template. The higher resolutions display only half of the screen but I was able to encode Alien, almost two hour movie, and the result was as good as a VCD, but complete in one CD and plays fine in the DV-333
