which codex for export movie with Premiere 6?

Hi all,

Which codex I should choose in Premiere 6 when exporting from timeline to movie?
The Cinepak codex is very very slow. I think it is tooo slow so useless on my 667 MHz PC.
My goal is to convert the avi file after encoding with TMPGenc to get mpg, then burn VCD with Nero.
If I use the DV codex, TMPGenc won't accept the format.
Anyone knows why? or I have to do some setting.

Please, I would like to hear your experience.

There are many ways to do this. I used to "encode" in HuffYuv format. That's a lossless compression algorythm. It compresses (most) video at about 2:1 ratio.
This is not realy much, but you don't lose any quality!

Now I do things differently: I select in Premiere whet I want to encode, then switch it to Frameserver mode, open it with AviSynth and imediately encode with TMPEG, without any intermediate files.

Thanks for info. I have also heard of that avisynth methode which directly encode in TMPGenc. I will try it later.

I want to know now is which codec in Premiere 6 should I choose?
All of the codecs chosen in Premiere 6 decrease the quality visibly a lot.

The cleaner codec (export for web) is so bad that I prefer TMPGenc to make mpg files.

As said in my previous post:

HuffYUV does LOSSLESS compression, that is, the video in the file is EXACTLY (bit-by-bit) the same as what Premiere told the compressor to compress.

You can re-encode as much as you want to huffYUV with NO qualtiy loss

I don't think that I have ever seen HuffYUV in premiere 6.0.
Where can I find it? In the preference I have searched in the DV , WFV en QuickTime lists. I just couldn't find it.
maybe in the newer Premiere 6.5?

HuffYuv is a non-standard codec. It should apear in the list (just like DivX and stuff) as soon, as you installed it...

But I see that it's for a 30 fps mode.
I have PAL in Europe (25fps) , so it will not work.

Euh, where did you see that is was only 30fps? huffyuv will do everything you tell it...
