    quickest encoding program

    hi
the quality of dvd2svcd is great but takes so long
    20 hours
dvdx takes around 8-9 hours and is also great quality but i think dvd2svcd just shades it
can other users let me know which software they use to encode vob. to svcd and let me know how long it takes and what the results are
    thanks

I use DVD2SVCD with TMPGenc (constant quality, highest quality) and it takes me now about 8 hours to create two 800 MB images (of a 2 hour DVD).
I use a PIV-2266 with 1 GB Ram. Since I work in the meanwhile I let the program run in the background (Taskpriority of TMPGenc=idle).
With not other tasks running it will take about 6 hours.

With a PIII-700 it took me about 17 hours (+/- 1 hour) for 90 minutes.

It takes me on my Computer ( AMD 1800 XP, 512 Ram ) about 9 hours to go from begenning to end with DVD2SVCD. For creating SVCD to play on a standalone, nothing beats DVD2SVCD in quality and ease. If theres something out there better, Id love to hear about it. Cant wait for the first DVD to play DIVX.. Now that would be magic.......

On my PIII 667 512 MB RAM 30 GB 7200 rpm, it takes 19 hrs with TMPGenc to encode an hour avi to mpg, in highest quality (BTW, no noticable diff between high and highest quality). The speed is something we just cannot increase if we want the best quality.
