TMPEGENC freezes ... ALL the time!

Hi,

whenever I try to convert a DivX Avi to a Video CD compliant MPEG File with TMPEGENC, my Computer freezes after a certain time. I even decompressed the audio before the conversion, this didn't help at all. Is this a common problem or do you think my computer is getting to hot?
Should I install a case fan? Is there any other program I can use (except for avi2vcd)? (note: I can't use avi2vcd because it maximizes the video without keeping the aspect ratio...)
