conversion problem

i keep getting a error message in tmpgenc when i try and convert a avi to mpg
it says error floating decimal point error
whats this mean and how do i correct it

Load your avi into virtualdub, post any error messages you may recieve as well as the "file information"

Additionally, ensure you have the latest version of TMPGenc with the vfapi companion.

Adjusting, the (not exactly sure about the name) "avi compatibility header"? to a higher value may also help.
