    VCD syncronization

    Hi,

I have downloaded The Matrix, which works perfectly with DIVx Player 2.0 Alpha.
Then I have used Virtualdub to cut the file in two so that I could burn on two CDs (I have used Nero 5.5.9.9 for the encoding)
I did so, and I got different problems that I'd like to solve with your help:

    1) Audio sync is no longer correct, the audio is about half a sec. later than the image (burned at 4x).
I have read the instructions of Nicky pages, (use Terabit Software)but when it gets to use Cool Edit 2000 (shareware) I get lost because I could probably use Nero as editor but the options are not the same, at least namely, therefore I don't know how to continue.
I understand that increasing the fps is not the same thing when you burn on vcd.
I mean, how do I check if the delay I apply is correct given that the problem is only on the vcd?
Is this the correct track or am I completely lost?

    2) I have a TV 4:3, I can see the dark horizontal and vertical stripes, but the images are still stretched out (vertically).

    3) Due to the encoding, the quality is lower, is there any other way to get it better?

    4) How do I get subtitles? I mean how do I know if they are already included in the file I have downloaded and how do I get them out on vcd?

    5) A simple one for you guys, I understand that svcd is better than vcd, how do I get there? I think the cd to be used is the same but it is just the software to be used which is different?

Sorry to be long, but this is my first vcd creation...

Thanks to anybody who can help.

    Alex

First of all. Don't use Nero for encoding. It doesn't get the job done. Use TMPGenc witch you can find almost anywhere. Load your whole movie into this program and enode it to MPG. (If it's still out of sync, use VIRTUALDUB to save the audio file in a different format like wav and use this (big) file as your new audio stream in TMPGenc > you can select different audio and video streams) Before you start the encoding, the program will give you the oportunity to choose some extra features which are very handy for your second problem. Go to setting (lower mid section in the program) and then > advanced > video arrange method > full screen (keep aspect ratio). Now the movie won't be streched anymore. Your quality problem has to do with nero. The best quality you can get is by not encoding VCD but SVCD instead. The only thing is the movie needs more CD's to be burned on becuase the higher quality requires (of course) more space. For subtitles go to http://www.vcdhelp.com
