Encoding time from dvd into svcd-Pls-Help.

Hi my name is Andrew. Im currently encoding a movie (lenght 60 minutes) from dvd into svcd using the following programs: DVD2SVCD ver 1.0.0build3 and TMPEGence Pro. I took me to encode the whole movie 22 hours.The Quality is very Good but the time it took is a PAIN. My system is Athlon 950 with Raid-0. I used the following setting in DVD2SVCD - Encoder -2 Pass VBR, Motion Search Precision-highest quality (VERY SLOW). My Question is - what would be estimated time of encoding of the same movie (with above settings) with a system that has CPU-AthlonXP 2000. Would it take much less time??? I think even with an Athlon 2000XP (which is clocked with about 1666 MHz or so), it still would take about 10-12 hrs to encode (just the factor of clocking).

Another option is to use the Cinema Craft Encoder 2.5 and perhaps a newer version of DVD2SVCD (current is 1.0.9 build 3, I think), if this is neccessary. CCE is _much_ faster than TMPGEnc. With my Athlon 1400 Mhz and option VBR 4 passes, it takes about 6-8 hrs to encode a full 100 minutes movie. This still can be sped up using only 3 passed e.g.
And in addition, the quality is better as well (in my opinion).

I recently checked prices for CCE - it is really very expensive - like 250$ unless there is a cheaper version?. If so let me know-really appreciate Your help = Andrew

If this is the setting you used in TMPGEnc, it's the time culprit. In my (and others) experience, little if anything is gained by using this very time consuming setting. Change the setting to "normal" - and smile ;>}
