    sond sync problems

    Hi guy and gals, first time posting here, so sorry if you have seen it millions of times before.........I need help with some mpegs that have sound that is out of sync........I use tmpegenc to encode from avi to mpeg...the avi files are perfect, but after encoding some are out, by as much as 30 seconds in one case.... is there a way to re-sync them?
    Thanks for your attention......

      30sec!! Wow, never had that problem! =)
      You should get around your problem by first using VirtualDub to get a wav-file with audio. Select 'save wav' under 'file'.
      Then in TMPGEnc select the wav-file as Audio source.

      This fixes all my problems but those are only a matter a sec as most.

      Good luck!

        thanks for your input danskiO.......I should have mentioned that I did use virtual-dub first to create a wave file, as the sound on the avi would not encode as it was......as I said , it was way out after encoding......it's as if the sound is shorter than the video, but how to get it back in sync is a mystery to me.

            thanks CVANR, I looked at the page. It looks like those solutions are all for avi files with displaced sound. My problem is after encoding..the sound is insync as an avi.

              Despite what you're thinking, the problemmay actually lie with the structure (interleaving of audio and video) of the .AVI file.

              Load the .AVI into VirtualDub. Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying". Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode". Under "Audio", make certain "Interleaving" is set to "Every 1 frame". Under "Compression" (still under "Audio"), select MPEG Layer 3 and choose the sampling rate you desire (If the rightside window is blank, checkmark "Show all formats"). Click on "OK". Save with a new filename.

              Use this new .AVI with TMPGEnc.

              Let us know of your success ;>}

                thanks so much for responding setarip.......all efforts have failed so far....I think I have worked out what is wrong though......the avi file I am struggling with, has a 45 second clip at the beginning which has no sound, and appears to have been added to the file......it is just a warning screen in different languages , and is superfluous to requirements....incidentally, the avi is a copy of The Green Mile and is 724,303,872 bytes long.......I have tried chopping bits off the mpeg I created with tmpgenc and re-encoding with the wav file of the sound, but its proving to be very difficult....
