    vcd tv aspect ratio problem???

I own a DVD which I backed up which is in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. I used dvd2avi, I then used tmgpenc to encode to a vcd(ntsc) I then used vcdeasy to burn it to cd. When I play in standalone player, the picture is stretched widescreen on t.v., which I don't want. I tried and failed to get this right so it will play more/less letterbox. can someone help me with this. thanx

Please clarify - Do you or don't you wish to retain the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio?

Well I guess you can say I want to keep it. I don't want the video stretched to full screen on t.v I think it would look much better letterbox. It seems once it is stretched fullscreen, the resolution is cut and it looks a bit more "blocky" I created a svcd from the 2nd half of the movie and chose to keep aspect ratio and it too was fullscreen. I hope this clarifies it. thanx

        Easy

In the MPEG settings dialog box of TMPGEnc [button found at the bottom of the program screen or click 'Expert' button in step 4/5 of the project wizard] go to the 'Advanced' tab choose the Video Arrange Method "Full Screen [keep aspect ratio]"

That sets the target display aspect ratio for playback, also telling it to make the vid full screen and keep aspect ratio so it won't stretch.

There are a few different methods, u can check how they look in the "Clip frame' option on the same screen.
