Convert .DAT to .AVI?

I think that a .DAT file is made for VCD, correct?

But anyway, if that's true, is there a way that I can convert the .DAT files to .AVI or somehow at least wind up with an AVI file in the end with some software?

If it is, in fact, an MPEG1-VideoCD file, you should be able to convert it using VirtualDub...
