Squeaky file joints with TMPGEnc

I've used VirtualDub to copy a VHS tape which has worked well and the spill AVI files convert to MPG with no problem using TMPGEnc. However, when using TMPGEnc tools to join them into one continuous file, there are very noisy 'squeaks' where they are joined.

I'd be most grateful for any help to get rid of them.
