    splitting?

okay, so i just recieved some svcds and they wont play in my dvd player. my player dose support vcds. so i did a simple mulitplex using TMPGEen and it worked well. now i just did another svcd that i have and it wont burn onto a disc. the file is too large.
so i am wondering if i can split my file into two files? i reallly don't want to (it's a concert) but i see no other way to get it onto a disc. also, why is the file too large when it fit on the disc as a svcd?
i am new to all this (duh) and would appreciate and suggestions!

Here's the guide for splitting with TMPGenc.

"also, why is the file too large when it fit on the disc as a svcd?"

You must have made the bitrate at the maximum default value, which is 2520 for svcd. Your original must have been encoded at a lower bitrate, which would equal less quality but also smaller in size. You could reconvert the file again and change the bitrate to something smaller, not going over 790mb's for one 80 minute cd-r.

        1) Are you trying to burn it as a simple "DataCd" (wrong) or as "SuperVideoCD" (right)?

        2) Do you know for a fact that it EVER fit onto one CD-R? Ask the sender...

This quote should suffice: "also, why is the file too large when it fit on the disc as a svcd?"

He must mean that it fit onto 1 or 2 discs before, but now it requires more, since he reencoded.

Also, decreasing the bitrate does indeed reduce the space, so i was just giving a few pointers...

yeah, of corse.. i downloaded the trial version of nero to burn the disc. i know, nero should be an obvious choice to begin with, but this is my roommates computer. the program he has kinda sucks.
thanks again for the tip on splitting..it worked well with the movie i just d/led
